2017 Fantasy Football Projections: Houston Texans

- Updated: Wednesday, July 26th

In addition to viewing our 2017 Fantasy Football Projections by position, we will post our preseason projections per team.

Below you will find our 2017 fantasy football projections for the Houston Texans.

Tom Savage285.5458.8304914.810.116.7320164.16
Trading up to the 12th overall pick for Deshaun Watson, the Texans have their long-term answer at quarterback. In the short term, however, Savage is the starter and it's likely that he starts most of the season although Savage himself has only 92 career pass attempts.
Deshaun Watson68.4113.47584.23.28.4390.346.42
One year after winning the division and with an elite defense, the Texans will likely look to play it safe at the quarterback position. Considering Savage's familiarity with the offense, it's possible or likely that he starts the majority of games even though the Texans traded up for Watson.

Running Backs

Lamar Miller2621113.85.833.3242.41.3178.22
One touch shy of 300 in 14 games played, Miller was inefficient in his first season with the Texans as he set or tied career lows in YPC (4.0) and Y/R (6.1). With the team using its third-round pick on D'Onta Foreman, perhaps his addition helps to keep Miller fresh(er) and lead to a bounce-back in efficiency.
Alfred Blue68273.91.59.562.1042.6
D'Onta Foreman58.6248.91.61.610.3035.52
A 2,000-yard rusher for the Longhorns, Foreman has quick feet for a back his size (233 pounds) although he's more finesse than powerful for a runner his size. In addition, he had just 13 receptions over three seasons in Austin and (like many rookies) isn't great in pass protection.

Wide Receivers

DeAndre Hopkins87.31126.66.7000152.86
One year after a 1,500-yard season, Hopkins was drafted in the first round of most leagues, but poor quarterback play sabotaged his 2016 production (78/954/4). Finishing as fantasy's WR35 (WR27 in PPR), Hopkins should be better in 2017 but a bounce-back will be dependent upon an inexperienced starter.
Will Fuller49.5675.93.24.825.2089.31
With back-to-back 100-yard games to begin his career, Fuller finished his rookie season with 47 catches for 635 yards and two touchdowns. After Week 2, Fuller exceeded 50 yards in only three of 12 games. Fantasy owners shouldn't expect weekly consistency from Fuller, but there will likely be an occasional big game every now and then for the speedster.

Tight Ends

C.J. Fiedorowicz76.1806.74.9110.07
As much as Houston's offense struggled last season, Fiedorowicz had an 11-game stretch with three-plus catches starting in Week 4 and set career highs across the board (54/559/4) in his third season. I could see similar production for the 25-year-old in 2017.
